Ta-Da Continuous Line Bias Binding (CLBB) Step by Step Instructions

Preparation

· Measure the perimeter of your quilt and add approximately 8” for corners and finished ends.

· Determine the number of rows of Ta-Da Continuous Line Bias Binding (CLBB) you will need  - each row makes approximately 25”. One panel will make approximately 7 yards.

Less than one panel (less than 7 yards)

· If you will need less than one panel, cut the number of rows required by trimming along a diagonal line using a rotary cutter and ruler. Press the CLBB to the wrong side of your fabric.

· Trim the interfacing on the outside solid lines of each panel using a rotary cutter and ruler.

More than one panel (more than 7 yards)

If you need more than one panel, cut your fabric in half on the fold with salvages together, square up the ends and sew right sides together to create a larger fabric panel. Press one CLBB panel to the wrong side of your fabric. Join the second CLBB panel by butting up to the first panel and press into place so it appears to be a continuous section.

Press the interfacing on to the wrong side of the fabric.

2)  Begin assembly

Fold fabric over with right sides together matching the two ‘A’ notches. Pin . Continue matching ‘B’ to ‘B’, ‘C’ to ‘C’, etc pinning as you go.

3)  Sew

Use a walking foot and sew raw edges together on the dotted line. Press seam open.

When you have finished sewing the edge you will have formed a fabric tube.

4)  Cut

Using a scissors, begin cutting at an extended edge following the cutting lines and rolling the tube around as you cut. This will make your continuous strips of bias binding.

5)  Final step

Fold the binding in half (wrong sides together) and press. Sew on to quilt using a 1/4” seam allowance. Ta-Da you are finished making the continuous line bias binding!
